Our sin separated us from God and made it impossible
for us to go to Him on our own. |
-Recognize Your Condition
"For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23) No one is good enough to go to Heaven on his own merit. We want to think that we are good enough, but since Adam and Eve disobeyed God, sin has been the natural condition of mankind. We must not let our pride get in our way, refusing to admit that we are sinners. -Realize the Penalty for Sin "For the wages of sin is death..." (Romans 6:23) We understand that word, for we receive wages when we work. Wages are what we earn, and we would say it is what we deserve. Sinful men and women, separated from God, cannot go to God on their own. And without God, all we have left are those wages. Just as there are wages for doing good, there are wages for doing wrong. The penalty for our sin is eternal separation from God in a place called Hell. It is called our "wages." It is a true that we are all born sinners, but there is hope in Jesus Christ alone. Nothing can provide us eternal life except to find safety in the plan of God, by His grace, and through placing our trust and faith in His gift of Salvation through Jesus Christ. |
-Realize that you cannot do this on your own
We all want to believe we can make it on our own. In human religion, we try to make our own way to God. We want it to be conformed to what we want, even according to our own logic. But anything of our own cannot bridge the gap created by our sin. Consider Proverbs 14:12 when it says says, “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” Without Christ, we can rationalize our words, thoughts, and ways, but in the end, they are not good enough. The Bible, God’s Word, gives us the true answers of grace and forgiveness. Imagine two men trapped in a tall, burning building. Their only hope of being saved is to be able to jump to the building beside them. The first man jumps but falls to his death. He did not make it to the building next door. But the second man was stronger and more capable. He jumps with all of his effort. He even jumped twice as far as the first man but still fell to his death. You see, in that simple illustration, no matter how far each jumped, they could not jump far enough. They fell short. We cannot deliver ourselves by our own works. In Ephesians 2:8–9 the Bible says, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. |
Religion, good works, or any other human act or good deed
cannot bridge the gap created by our sin. We see ourselves as "good", but we still fall short. |
Because of the sacrifice of Christ, we can now
"come unto God by him." |
-Believe that Jesus loves you!
Our sin separated us from God. We could not get to God on our own. That is why Jesus came. He came, without sin, to die for the rest of creation. 1 Peter 3:18 says, "For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:" God loved the whole world, not just certain people, but everyone. That includes YOU! John 3:16 explains “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Through the death and resurrection of Jesus, He became the payment for our sin. We could not pay for our own sins even if we wanted to do so, but Jesus came for us. Because of his grace, salvation is available. Today, you can "come unto God" through Jesus Christ. (Hebrews 7:25) "Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them." |
-Believe Christ Died for You
You will not be rejected, just trust God at His Word. -Realize that you cannot do this on your own "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8) When Jesus died, it confirmed and and made conspicuous that love. Christ died on the cross to pay our debt. -Trust Christ Alone as Your Savior "...but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. " (Romans 6:23) "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." (Romans 10:13) Everlasting life is a gift made available by Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection. This gift is offered freely to those who call upon Him by faith. To know for sure that your sin is forgiven and that Heaven is your home, you must call on Jesus and believe with your heart that He is the risen Savior. Words alone are not enough to save; you must, by faith, believe with your heart. |
You can come to Jesus today!
Just trust HIM and His Word. |
